Liferay Assumes Leadership for PortletFaces Community

Open Source Leader Offers Enterprise-Grade Support

LOS ANGELES, CA—(April 3, 2012)—Liferay, Inc., provider of the world's leading enterprise-class, open source portal, today announced that it was granted leadership for all open source projects on portletfaces.org, a community that showcases JavaServer Faces (JSF) as the premier user interface framework for developing portlets. The community was founded by Liferay Partners Triton Services and Mimacom AG, who are both recognized as experts in Liferay and JSF technology.

JSF establishes the standard for building server-side user interfaces on the Java EE platform and is widely leveraged among enterprise Java developers. Triton and Mimacom formed portletfaces.org in response to an increasing demand for JSF portlets. As provider of the premier open source portal for the enterprise, Liferay shares a large overlapping community with portletfaces.org, as evidenced by the high concentration of Liferay-related sub-projects such as PortletFaces Bridge, AlloyFaces, and LiferayFaces.

"The popularity of Liferay technology in the portletfaces.org community and Liferay's history of leading successful open source projects made this decision an easy one—it is a win-win for the Liferay and JSF developer communities," said Atul Patel, Director of Agile Solutions of Triton Services, Inc. "Liferay has a long tradition of embracing JCP standards like the Portlet API, and we are confident that their commitment to JSF will yield the best results for the JSF community."

"The work we have done at portletfaces.org has paid great dividends," added Micha Kiener, Head of Research & Innovation at Mimacom AG. "By making this contribution, our Liferay customers will now also enjoy the benefits of enterprise support for JSF as part of their Liferay subscriptions. Mimacom is looking forward to continued participation and improvements for JSF and Liferay integration."

The Liferay Portal platform was created in 2000 and open sourced in 2001. Since forming Liferay, Inc., the creators and the company's leadership have continued to be dedicated to open source development and standards, resulting in the expansion of its community to over 60K worldwide, while encouraging adoption of open source in the enterprise with high-quality support and services.

"We have seen strong demand for JSF portlet development from Liferay's community and customers," said Neil Griffin, JSF Team Lead at Liferay and lead developer at portletfaces.org. "This contribution by Triton and Mimacom provides Liferay with the opportunity to support JSF under Liferay, Inc.'s Enterprise Subscription and Support (ESS) offering."

The transition of projects to Liferay is already underway, and is scheduled for completion this month. The projects will be repackaged under a new umbrella project called "Liferay Faces." Find more information about Liferay Faces at www.liferay.com/community/liferay-projects/liferay-faces.

Liferay Reports Another Year of Double-Digit Growth
Enterprise portal leader grows revenue by more than 50 percent in 2012

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — (February 27, 2013) — Liferay, Inc., provider of the world's leading enterprise-class open source portal, announced an impressive year of growth that included a greater than 50 percent increase in revenue as well as continued expansion in its community and business ecosystems. The company attributes its 2012 success to significant gains made through opportunities in the financial services, health care and government sectors around the world.

The open source leader, whose revenue is mainly derived from sales of Liferay Portal Enterprise Edition (EE), its flagship product, saw healthy growth of existing client contracts and key wins in new projects. Last year's most popular use cases of Liferay Portal were as collaborative intranets and customer portals, notably in the health care and financial services industries.

"I'm very pleased to announce another successful year, delivering Liferay's solutions to clients around the world in sectors adopting open source at a high rate," said Bryan Cheung, Liferay's CEO. "Last year's growth is a testament to the Liferay platform's ability to address today's wide-ranging enterprise needs such as increasing customer engagement online and managing complex business content and processes. Liferay's persistent global growth in all areas, including customers, partners, and community members, doesn't show any signs of slowing down in 2013."

New offices that opened in the last year in London, Paris, Saõ Paulo, Tokyo, and the U.S. Midwest have been responding quickly to local demand for Liferay's products and services and have established strategic go-to-market partnerships. For example, Liferay U.K. delivered on a constituent self-service portal for the London Borough of Camden, the French office signed new partner Atos Origin, and the Asia-Pacific team closed major deals in the consumer electronics and telecommunications industries.

Liferay's open source community also experienced significant growth in size and activity. Liferay's 56,000 community members in 2011 grew to over 75,000 by the end of last year, and to date the community has already surpassed 80,000 members. The rapid rise in the formation of Liferay's user groups around the world—last year alone saw 20 user groups form—also points to the strength and vibrancy of Liferay's ecosystem.
