Liferay Announces New Social Collaboration App for the Enterprise
Social Office 2.0 represents Liferay's first major product available through Liferay Marketplace, combines with Liferay Sync

LOS ANGELES, CA – (December 12, 2012) – Liferay, Inc., provider of the world's leading enterprise-class, open source portal, announced today the launch of Social Office 2.0 Enterprise Edition (EE), the newest version of Liferay's social collaboration solution for enterprise teams. Social Office 2.0 EE, the newest app available in Liferay Marketplace, equips users with an efficient means to collaborate with teams in their business units and to build a social network within their enterprise.

By downloading Social Office 2.0 EE from Liferay Marketplace, Liferay Portal users instantly gain access to a full social intranet that works alongside existing sites and the enterprise data and applications integrated into their Liferay Portal deployment. Social Office also works with Liferay Sync, which automatically synchronizes documents and makes them accessible across desktop and mobile environments.

Business users benefit from advanced content management and collaboration features in Social Office 2.0 EE, including simple site creation, blogs, wikis, message boards, calendars, and task management. A breadth of social networking features, such as private messaging, activity tracking, and personal profiles, provide intuitive ways to connect and work together online.

New features in Social Office 2.0 EE include:  

  • Enhanced Document Management – New document previews, document types and a revamped user interface make creating, editing and sharing documents easy, saving time and strengthening collaboration.
  • Improved Contacts Center – Social Office users can use the Contacts Center to quickly find other people in the organization with specific areas of expertise or project experience.
  • Notifications – Users now receive convenient alerts to new requests, messages or announcements through the notifications center on the dockbar.
  • Microblogging – These status messages allow users to broadcast real-time updates to connections and followers and to see other users' posts.
  • Enhanced User Management – Liferay's Control Panel allows for simple and intuitive management of Social Office users' membership and roles.

Liferay Reports Another Year of Double-Digit Growth
Enterprise portal leader grows revenue by more than 50 percent in 2012

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — (February 27, 2013) — Liferay, Inc., provider of the world's leading enterprise-class open source portal, announced an impressive year of growth that included a greater than 50 percent increase in revenue as well as continued expansion in its community and business ecosystems. The company attributes its 2012 success to significant gains made through opportunities in the financial services, health care and government sectors around the world.  

The open source leader, whose revenue is mainly derived from sales of Liferay Portal Enterprise Edition (EE), its flagship product, saw healthy growth of existing client contracts and key wins in new projects. Last year's most popular use cases of Liferay Portal were as collaborative intranets and customer portals, notably in the health care and financial services industries.

Liferay's 56,000 community members in 2011 grew to over 75,000 by the end of last year, and to date the community has already surpassed 80,000 members. Grupo Caser confía en el software libre para actualizar su "intranet" que se utilizará en toda su red de oficinas y servicios centrales
A través de Liferay Portal, la plataforma Open Source más utilizada del mundo para la creación de portales Web, la compañía renueva su red de comunicación para ofrecer servicios online a más de 45 oficinas

MADRID, Spain — (15 de Enero de 2012) — Caser, uno de los principales grupos aseguradores en España, ha puesto en marcha una nueva versión de su intranet corporativa, utilizando Liferay Portal, la plataforma de código abierto más utilizada del mundo para la creación de portales Web.

El nuevo portal facilita el diálogo entre empleados, a través de espacios virtuales de participación activa (empresa – empleado/a, empleado/a – empresa, negocio – empleado/a, empleado/a – negocio, empleado/a – empleado/a), al tiempo que presta servicios de intranet a las compañías del grupo. El objetivo final de sus responsables es reforzar el papel de los empleados en el desarrollo de la organización, así como garantizar la disponibilidad de servicios online.

"Hoy podemos decir que Grupo Caser cuenta con una intranet moderna y eficaz, que presta servicios de calidad a nuestros empleados, y que además facilita la colaboración eficaz y fluida entre ellos", señala el director de E-Business, Alfonso Cartagena, responsable del proyecto.

La nueva intranet del grupo Caser va a permitir generar páginas web personalizadas para cada filial, que serán accesibles para empleados, partners, colaboradores y clientes, con la posibilidad de gestionarlas todas desde un único punto, de una forma tan sencilla que puede realizarlo cualquier empleado, sin necesidad de contar con conocimientos técnicos especiales. "Hemos creado un entorno de colaboración integrado, --subraya Antolín Tello, director de Organización y Arquitectura Tecnológica de Grupo Caser-- con espacios virtuales de comunicación, tanto verticales como horizontales, en función de cada necesidad, y accesibles para todos los empleados".

Liferay Portal es la plataforma de software libre código más extendida en el mundo para la generación de portales en Internet.
