Whenever I attempt to use a virtual host name for the private pages of a community, navigation to the pages results in an redirect loop message.

Basic Liferay 6 with Tomcat package configured to use MySQL database.

Steps taken...
Portal already created and working well...
Create a community.
Create private pages. (Documents, Calendar, etc. template)
Manage pages, configure Settings.
Set Private Virtual Host to mysub.mydom.com:8080
Friendly URL is default.
(Yes DNS is configured correctly. Internal access only.)
Navigate to mysub.mydom.com which results in redirect loop message from browser.

Google hasn't turned up anything intelligent. Can anyone provide any insight?

I saw this behavior while using OpenSSO. Well it was cookie causing this to happen.
Is this same for all the browsers?

Can you please try Clearing all cache, cookies from the browser and if that also doesnt work shutdown tomcat, delete the temp, work folder from tomcat and restart... don't know how much help this would be but try and see..

Yea I tried clearing cache. Does the same in Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Doesn't appear to be a cookie or cache issue.

Upon further experimentation, it appears that there must be at least one public page created within the community in order for the virtual host to work for the private pages. Might be something related to sign-in function. I'm still a newbie so not sure but seems like a logical guess. Unless someone can tell me this is not how Liferay is supposed to function, I will consider the question answered.

I'm trying to integrate openAM (old openSSO) with Liferay 6.1 CE and I believe I'm having this error. Do you know what it's causing it? How can I fix this?
