Hi all,

could anybody please share one's ideas and experience regarding two possible approaches to extending Liferay tables - 'in the same database' and 'in another database'?

Just any considerations, pros and conrtas, that may look appropriate and deserve consideration: impact on further upgrades, performance, reliability, etc whatever may be important some day... In particular, does ''another database' approach bring in higher risks of data integrity corruption?

Thanks in advance,
Sergey

Well Ganesh, you can create your own tables either in the same database that Liferay has its tables in, normally 'lportal', or in another database, say 'lportal_my'.

The first technique is described in http://www.liferay.com/web/guest/community/wiki/-/wiki/Main/Extend+Liferay+Tables , and the other is described in http://www.liferay.com/web/guest/community/wiki/-/wiki/Main/Extending+Liferay+Tables+in+Another+Database

Both seem to have certain advantages, I'm just not sure which of them are real ones, and which are just seeming so... emoticon
