I am not sure what in specific you want to change but you can definitely write a hook for the Navigation portlet and that changes the portlet itself and not the navigation bar.
Can you outline on what you are trying to change ?

If it's just look and feel, can't you change if from the "Look and Feel" icon available on the top right hand side corner of the portlet?

Hi Jaid,

You can apply css like this:

.portlet-navigation ul li {
background-image: url (........);
//or whatever you want to apply
}

Where 'portlet-navigation' is your css wrapper class defined by Liferay for Navigation portlet. Similarly you can apply your custom theme on any portlet without effecting the other portlets. emoticon

Expand and Collapse functionality for liferay's navigation portlet.
Could you please share the script files for Expand and Collapse functionality for liferay's navigation portlet.

Thank you.
