Hi,

I want to add a footer at bottom of the all pages. It should be fixed at bottom. is it possible?

Yes that is possible, You can add that permanently in theme using- simply hardcode the footer, create a custom portlet and place it(search for static portlet), create a web content and place it(search for add journal article in theme)

i dont want to add it in the theme. it is common for all the themes.

The way to add footer in liferay is to use theme. If you want to add it to all themes, make the other theme inherit the theme with footer.

You can also add a portlet in layout. http://www.liferay.com/it/community/wiki/-/wiki/Main/Add+runtime+portlets+to+a+layout

That'll work if all the pages have the same layout. Haven't thought of that. :-)

Have attached portal_normal.vm in which the footer is set to bottom of the page

A better way is to add it in portal_normal.vm in the theme.

There is a separate section for the footer.
