Hello,
I am working on Liferay6.1 + Richfaces 4.2.1 project. I am having problem with having "rich:extendedDataTable" in my portlet. I get the layout but not getting the style (images / color). When i checked the view source i could see the css file has been included http://localhost:8080/web/guest/candidatelist?_DynamicInclude_WAR_MyRecruit_INSTANCE_e9cPTZuwao35_javax.faces.resource=org.richfaces.staticResource%2F4.2.0.Final%2FPacked%2FblueSky%2Fpacked%2Fpacked.css&p_p_col_count=1&p_p_col_id=column-1&p_p_id=DynamicInclude_WAR_MyRecruit_INSTANCE_e9cPTZuwao35&p_p_lifecycle=2

I also tried

1< resource-handler>com.liferay.faces.bridge.application.ResourceHandlerImpl</resource-handler>

I also have

 1    <servlet>
 2        <servlet-name>Resource Servlet</servlet-name>
 3        <servlet-class>org.richfaces.webapp.ResourceServlet</servlet-class>
 4        <load-on-startup>1</load-on-startup>
 5    </servlet>
 6
 7    <servlet-mapping>
 8        <servlet-name>Resource Servlet</servlet-name>
 9        <url-pattern>/org.richfaces.resources/*</url-pattern>
10
11    </servlet-mapping>

Can someone please guide me in fixing this. Please let me know if i need to provide any other details.

Thanks for reporting this issue. I was able to reproduce the problem and fixed it today. See FACES-1214 for more info. The fix will appear in version 3.1.0-RC1 (Liferay 6.1.x) and 3.0.0-RC1 (Liferay 6.0.x).

You can download SNAPSHOT versions of Liferay Faces artifacts from the SNAPSHOT repository.

Please download and deploy the SNAPSHOT version of the richfaces4-portlet and let me know if you see the background of the rich:dataTable after uploading a file.

As you suggested i have downloaded and deployed the SNAPSHOT version of the richfaces4-portlet in \liferay-portal-6.1.0-ce-ga1\tomcat-7.0.23. I still see the same issue. I have attached the image for your reference.

Hi Neil,

the resource issue does not only affect the datatable of richfaces, but also the richfaces tree. I'm trying to get a richfaces tree example running in Liferay 6.1. So far the tree navigation seems now to work after the bugfix you described above. But there are still some Resource-Servlet Exceptions rising up when the tree is displayed. Attached to this post you find a little example to reproduce the error stacktrace. Another bug affects the drag'n'drop functionality. Only one Drag'n'Drop operation is possible. After drag-functionality is likely deactivated in the richfaces tree. No Javascript errors caused this effect. Also on the server side there are no exceptions written to the log. Do I miss something in my example?

Regards,

Michael

Here is my stacktrace of Tree 1 in my little example:

Hi Vijayan,

Did you try to include these context parameters in your web.xml?

 1
 2        <context-param>
 3        <param-name>org.richfaces.resourceMapping.enabled</param-name>
 4        <param-value>true</param-value>
 5    </context-param>
 6    <context-param>
 7        <param-name>org.richfaces.enableControlSkinning</param-name>
 8        <param-value>true</param-value>
 9       </context-param>
10    <context-param>
11        <param-name>org.richfaces.enableControlSkinningClasses</param-name>
12        <param-value>true</param-value>
13    </context-param>
14        <context-param>
15        <param-name>org.richfaces.skin</param-name>
16        <param-value>classic</param-value>

Thanks for the styling tips Michael. I tried them out in the richfaces4-portlet and the Classic theme rendered nicely for me too. emoticon

Hi Vijayan,

I downloaded and deployed the snapshot of the richfaces4-portlet in Liferay 6.1 and it looks exactly like the screenshot you provided. The brown colored background of the table renders nicely, and there are no errors reported in Chrome regarding missing css/image files.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the portlet -- I was able to reproduce the missing icons and drag&drop problems.

Regarding the missing icons, I just committed a couple of more fixes related to FACES-1214. If you try the latest snapshot you should see all the folder icons.

Regarding the drag&drop problem, I found that when the drop occurs, that RichFaces tries to do an Ajax request using a portlet RenderURL, rather than a portlet ResourceURL. Technically this is a bug in RichFaces, so I created the RF-12263 issue at the JBoss Issue Tracker.

Hi Michael,

Would you say that the drag & drop problems you're seeing are the same described in FACES-239?

Thanks,

Neil

Hi Neil,

thanks for your fast bugfix. With these fixes we were able to use the tree, almost. Today we recognized, that the drag'n'drop functionality is not only bugged, but also the context menu cannot be used in combination with the tree. I would carefully guess, that this problem exists also for the extendedDatatable if AJAX events are handled the same like for the tree. But this I will try to find out tomorrow. Another thing is the selctionListener for the tree. OnSelect we have to tag it with the attribute "execute". I will try to edit the example portlet tomorrow to show the issues I mean.
Regarding the JIRA Ticket: I tried the normal Drag'n'Drop demo and the result was the same as in the tree. The first drag and the first drop event was successful, but then no more drag'n'drop is possible. After the first drop event it seems like drag- and drop javascript is omitted. I have to recheck this. You can try the little example by yourself.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards,

Michael

Micheal,

I feel issues with the below render attribute. I guess you also need to render "ind (rich:dragIndicator)" along with "tree" from rich:dropTarget render. I guess when you rerender the tree after drop event, it does not have link to the dragIndicator.

1<rich:dropTarget acceptedTypes="file" render="tree"

I had similar issue, i had tree where i need to add Nodes (for tree) dynamically using a popup. I had contextMenu on the tree to delete any node. Initially i was having issues when i rerender the tree after create any node, i was not able to get "contextmenu". I was able to fix this by render tree along with context menu.

Thanks,
Allen

@Michael: Did you get a chance to try Allen's suggestion? Perhaps it's a problem with the design of your test portlet? When you get a chance, please let me know. Thanks, Neil.

Hi,

@Allen: I tried your suggestions and rendered also the indicator, but I still have the same problem if I rerender the dragSource.

But I played a little bit more with the simple drag and drop example: if I do not rerender the drag source, dragging still works. Also the drop event is always triggered. So the problem is only there if the drag source is rerendered. The drag drop problem is independant whether the drag indicator is used or not. I also tried a simple drag'n'drop example without drag indicator and I had the same problems: first drag was successful, after there was no element of the drag source anymore draggable, but still clickable. So something wents wrong in the second render phase if the drag source is rerendered. I will continue debugging the javascript...If I find something I'll let you know.

Thanks,
Michael

Thanks Michael. My guess is that this is a problem in RichFaces that the JBoss folks will have to address. If you have time to debug the JavaScript then that would really help us all.

Did you find anything, i noticed onething here

On First Time Drag and Drop i see below events on javax.faces.component.UIViewRoot.queueEvent

 1. org.richfaces.event.TreeToggleEvent
 2. org.richfaces.event.TreeSelectionChangeEvent
 3. org.richfaces.event.TreeToggleEvent
 4. org.richfaces.event.DropEvent
 5. org.richfaces.event.DropEvent

But on second time when i tried to drag the tree element i found only org.richfaces.event.TreeSelectionChangeEvent.

-----------------------------------------

Also i noticed below Draggable script generation difference when we have rich:dragIndicator id other than "id" [In my case testIndidator]

1
2    <rich:dragIndicator id="testIndicator" acceptClass="accept"
3        rejectClass="reject" draggingClass="default">
4          Drag the item to proper area..
5       </rich:dragIndicator>

Below code created on tree load
1
2new RichFaces.ui.Draggable(
3"_jpfcpncuivr_A2149_j_id1:j_idt6:j_idt16:tree:0.0:j_idt23",{"parentId":"_jpfcpncuivr_A2149_j_id1:j_idt6:j_idt16:tree:0.0:j_idt22","indicator":"_jpfcpncuivr_A2149_j_id1:j_idt6:testIndicator","type":"file"}
4)

Below code created after a drag and drop (here i see "ind" as indicator instead of "testIndicator". I guess it is hardcoded some where)

1
2new RichFaces.ui.Draggable(
3"_jpfcpncuivr_A2149_j_id1:j_idt6:j_idt16:tree:0.0:j_idt23",{"parentId":"_jpfcpncuivr_A2149_j_id1:j_idt6:j_idt16:tree:0.0:j_idt22","indicator":"ind","type":"file"}
4)

I haven't focussed on this issue since the ball in the JBoss court (see RF-12263) but perhaps Michael here in the Liferay forums has some more info.

Update: I contacted the folks at JBoss and they're going to investigate the issue as soon as they get the chance.

Update: I just made a small fix to the bridge. See FACES-1416. You can try it out by downloading version 3.1.1-ga2-SNAPSHOT from the snapshot repository. I just tested Michael Weber's portlet with RichFaces 4.2.2 and drag & drop started working. Many thanks to Ken Finnigan of JBoss! emoticon
