Hi

I wonder.
Can I develop the view presentation layer for a portlet without JSP?
Is Alloy UI suitable without JSP?

Sure, there's Vaadin, there's JSF. You can even do it in straight HTML (although what a pain that would be).

There's two components to AUI, the javascript framework (based on YUI and runs just in the browser) and the tag library (for easy integration in JSP). You can use the javascript piece w/o the tag library (hence w/o JSP), but the tag lib depends on the javascript piece.

I have read introductory material about Vaadin and I saw it can be used with Portlets. In fact it will be a choice.
But. May I use Velocity or Freemarker as well? I know I can use them only if write my porlet using Spring Portlet Framework, can you tell me more about your choice?

You can use pretty much any tech for your presentation layer including: velocity, freemarker and even php. For velocity sample look at the Hello Velocity portlet included in Liferay. Spring Portlet MVC should also make it pretty easy to use freemarker as the template language.

HI Carlos Adolfo Ortiz Quirós,

You can also use ZK-Framework for presentation layer.

ZK will have .zul file instead .jsp.

Zk have cool UI as well as some more features you may see using link below.
