Hello, this is my first post here and I am unfamiliar with Liferay other than what I've been reading/watching here and on youtube etc (the roadshow with Michael Wong was very informative)

We are investigating document collaboration/portal platforms and I prefer to look to what is available in the Open Source world before dumping money into Microsoft, however one of the key features of Sharepoint that we would make use of is the ability to have multiple users simultaneously edit documents without "checking out" or locking the files, as well as tracking multiple versions and restoring if needed. This is called "Co-Authoring & Versioning" I believe (for reference: Document collaboration and co-authoring)

From what I gather Liferay currently "checks-out" documents when someone is editing them, locking out others from making edits. Are there any features comparable to sharepoint or perhaps addons available or development plans for these types of features?

Thanks!
Luke
