Dear buddies,

Would like to find out, if there is a way to prevent the emails from going to the owner of a community when new members request to join?

Thanks - Alagu

To Achieve this requirement , you need to modify MembershipRequestLocalServiceImpl class which will have below line which you might need to comment out.
notifyGroupAdministrators(membershipRequest, serviceContext);
Hope this will resolve your query.

Before going for coding try to modify your portal properties. If you are in 6.1.1, check what are your values for:
sites.email.from.name
sites.email.from.address
sites.email.membership.reply.subject
sites.email.membership.reply.body

See if making all of them blank will disable the emailing feature (without giving you the stack trace).
It does not look like Liferay has made this bit to be a part of ControlPanel yet, LPS-5424 is still outstanding.

... and Jignesh I am afraid that it is very likely that your suggestion will have to be accepted as there is a very high chance that stacktrace will be there.

Also, suggested software patching would be required if a need for sending/not-sending notification email shall be based on community name/type/id.
