Hi,

I created an article usign Journal article. Added the new article (version 1.0) in the portal page. The contents got displayed. Later, the article was edited with the option of 'increment version on save' selected. A new article got created (version 1.1). Along with it the portal page content got updated with the contents of version 1.1. I tried to select the previous version but the contents of the latest version is getting displayed.
I want to display the contents from a previous version. Why it is happening so? How to resolve the issue?

Please provide some hints on the same.

Thanks in advance.

Found out from the following URL that the version issue is a known bug in 4.4.2
http://issues.liferay.com/browse/LEP-5251

It seems it is fixed in 5.x version. Could anyone please tell how it was fixed and is it possible to bring that fix to 4.4.2 version.

Thanks.

I would also like to know how to fix this.... my group is interested in using this feature and right now it is pretty useless.

Looks like the issue still persists in 5.2. I've opened a new ticket here:

http://issues.liferay.com/browse/LPS-1669

What reason would you need this for though?

Our users are interested in web publishing. They would like to be able to edit an article and save it without it being published live. Or wait for a specific date/time to publish the new version. Right now a user creates the new version of the article and if it is approved it shows up live regardless of the future display date. We would also like the ability to have different versions of an article depending on different events throughout the year. We would like the ability to roll back to a previous version of an article if a mistake is noticed. Right now this doesnt' seem possible...

hm...but this can also be an annoyance. If people update their articles, then they will have to manually update all the journal content portlets on their site.

Yes, you are correct and also bring up a good point. Careful planning would have to go into which articles need this work flow applied to it. It would be nice if there were some way to get around that...
