I heard a great talk on Devoxx 2012 in Antwerp about integrating Java EE Webprofile into the TomCat called TomEE. It was a really impressive demo about combining the lightweight TomCat with all that EE features. There are several TomEE bundles: Web Profile, JAX-RS, Plus (including all Web Profile + JAX-RS + EJB ) . Although they add additional libs the TomEE is amazingly fast and development looks like fun.

I had a first short try launching Liferay with TomEE and succeeded. I just sorted out some duplicated libs and putted Liferay in. I didnot run the tests, if it runs correctly. Maybe you are interested in?

So what about creating a Liferay Bundle with TomEE?

Seems interesting. Did you just follow the standard Liferay Tomcat installation? If not, can you post the steps you've done to install liferay on TomEE?
