Hello,
Is there any way to change the look and placement of the session timeout banner? Currently it displays about a 1 cm pink bar across the top of the screen. We would like to make it more prominent.
Thanks for your help,
Mark.

Yep. You would do this in your custom theme.

When I say "more prominent", I mean a making a big departure from the current timeout banner, like displaying a dialog box in the center, while darkening the surrounding screen, or perhaps redirecting to another page on timeout. Is the code that displays the banner available for modification, so that we could do something different than displaying a banner?

There's already a property to set in portal-ext.properties to redirect on session timeout, so you have nothing to do here but set it.

The bar is all done on the client side using javascript and css. The CSS changes would be done in your custom theme, and the JS you can change using a hook. Check out /html/js/liferay/session.js for making the JS changes.

I make formatting changes to custom.css for the .popup-alert-notice. I just want to move it down in the screen and make it a little bigger.

.popup-alert-notice {
background-color: #FFC;
border-bottom-color: #FC0;
top: 50%;
height: 150px;
}

The changes don't seem to make any difference. I thought that custom.css was loaded last, and overrides the other theme styles.
What am I missing?
Mark.

Hi,

You should create your own theme and place your css code in custom.css file of your theme.

Hope this help you,

Antoine
