Hi Jignesh
I am very new to Liferay. Can you please explain me in a bit detail how I can replace the Liferay top page with my own JSP and how I can configure Liferay to pick my page rather than the default page.

Hi,

the look&feel of a page is defined in portal-normal.vm (not a jsp) of your theme inside the templates folder. There you can change the header of the page (remove liferay logo....). Are you using SDK for developing a custom theme??

Hi Virendra,

you can of course change the original files directly. Then you must edit the "portal-normal.vm" inside the "templates" folder of the theme you want to change (maybe the classic theme which is located under "webapps\ROOT\html\themes\classic\").

Another way would be to set up a new theme with the liferay sdk so you won't be changing any original files.

Whatever way you choose you will have to edit the portal-normal.vm. So e.g if you want to remove the liferay logo and the community name (I'm using liferay trunk for development) you must remove the following lines:
1<h1 class="logo">
2...
3</h1>

The "Welcome Text/ Greetings Text" can be set under My Account from dock menu.

HTH Oli
