Hi,

I've downloaded and extracted liferay-portal-5.2.3 to C:\LiveRay\
Then I tried to start it from the bin directory of tomcat.
The Console shows the following message:

C:\LiveRay\liferay-portal-5.2.3\tomcat-5.5.27\bin>startup.bat
Using CATALINA_BASE: C:\LiveRay\liferay-portal-5.2.3\tomcat-5.5.27
Using CATALINA_HOME: C:\LiveRay\liferay-portal-5.2.3\tomcat-5.5.27

Using JRE_HOME: C:\LiveRay\liferay-portal-5.2.3\tomcat-5.5.27/jre1.5.0_17/win
C:\LiveRay\liferay-portal-5.2.3\tomcat-5.5.27\bin>

Can sombody tell me, what to do?

Hi,

it seems, that your liferay was successfully started. Open a web browser and go to http://localhost:8080/web/

If nothing happens there, check the catalina.out in the logs directory of you tomcat.

I hope this helps.

You'll also want to look for a new window titled "Tomcat". Most of the time, it shows up with a Java console Icon and looks like a windows command prompt. It can also show up with the default Windows command prompt icon.

If there is no "Tomcat" window, make sure you've installed Java and set the JAVA_HOME environmental variable.

Although the instructions are for 4.4, the same instructions would be applied to the latest version. The same instructions have existed since version 2 of Liferay.

Would the above actually work? I thought you needed the full jdk to run liferay not just the JRE. I remember reading somewhere that the jdk is required for compilation of the jsp files.

And also if you look at the above directory the first two directories are separated by the "\" whereas the last two directories are separated by "/". That wouldnt work either. You need to use backslash for the separator not a mixture of backslash and forward slash


What does it say in your C:\LiveRay\liferay-portal-5.2.3\tomcat-5.5.27\logs\catalina.out
