Hi Team ,

We are using Liferay as similar like Knowledge base Portal. It will be great if we have criteria to search the threads which is "waiting for answer" . so that our SME team can search the unanswered questions to answer them on priority.

Praveen

Hi Praveen,

I like the idea. The hard part would be to determine which messages are still "Waiting for Answer". Should it be those that don't have any response at all? This is easy but it would miss those in which someone has answered just to say "I have the same problem".

The alternative would be those marked as a question but without any answer marked as an answer. The drawback of this solution would be that it would be quite hard to implement such a query in an efficient way. Also it would show up many questions answered but in which the person asking didn't mark the message with the answer as such.

Thoughts?

Hi Jorge,

You are right, we need to track down the messages that don't have any response at all.

i can understand it is very hard to implement such query.

In that case will it be possible to have another link like Best Solution or Solution next to Reply , Reply with quote in the thread ?,

Where only solutions can be given for that question.

It might be easy to query all the thread don't have Solution. don't they ?

By this way SME's can easily probe the thread's don't have solution.

I agree that we need a better way to surface 'waiting for answer' questions and would simply define them as threads that were marked as a question and have not been marked as resolved. I'm guessing that the scenario where this view is important will also be one where they are striving to ensure everything that is a question, gets an answer and therefore will probably be going through and marking them resolved regularly.

In our specific scenario, our community administrators are obligated by a regulatory requirement to answer all questions which are submitted. They are fine with this requirement but they are not happy that they have to manually page though each category to make sure that they are complying.

Hey James,

With 6.1 we started progressing in this direction by creating a display style for the forums that is optimized for Q&A. For examples it shows clearly which questions have an answer (it depends on whether someone has marked it as such manually) or not.

We couldn't implement all the features we wanted and was released mainly to get feedback and determine if it's worth to keep improving this display style or not. If you can take a look (you can configure the display style per category), I'd love to hear your feedback.
