There is no "Add Discussion" button in blogs so your Liferay is working properly.

As Steve pointed out, if you mean ability to add comments to a blog entry, you'll have to check "Add Discussion" priviledge in the permission of a blog entry,
A link should appear if priviledge is given properly.

Discussion are update or deleted once they are added.
Try removing update discussion & delete discussion permission, Since you are not giving add discussion permission.

Also checking you user is associated to proper role & have desired permission for which you are checking.

Thanks,
AP

Is your problem not having "No Comment yet. Be the first" link or having "Add Comment" link in the blog?

Hi Hitoshi-san,

Thanks for your reply.

Actually I have two community roles for Blogging.

In one role, I have all the permissions for the blog portlet in a community role. In the other community role, I have given very few permissions above.

Then I created a community, assigned two persons to the community with different community roles to two persons.

I am able to control every permission, except "Add Discussion".

I think, "Add Discussion" permission is for "Add Comment" permission which comes after first comment is put.

Please help in resolving this.

There really isn't a written specification on what these permission is suppose to mean. The only written desciption I know is in the "Liferay Portal 6 Enterprise Intranets" (sample page below). As is written in the book, I think the "Add Discussion" is suppose to imply ability to add comments (initial or not). "Update Discussion" is ability to edit comments, and "Delete Discussion" is suppose to be ability to delete comments. If it's not functioning this way, I think it's a bug and an issue should be created in the jira.

Hi,

I gave only the view permissions for the blog portlet on the community public page in the specific community role to a particular user.

But the above user is able to give the first comment and then Add Comment subsequently.

Is the "Add Discussion" permission related to the "Add Comment" button on blog portlet ?

What I believe is that even if user has a "View Permission",

Thanks

Yes. I've even translated this to mean "Add Comment" in my Japanese version of Liferay instead of obscure "Add Discussion".
