the problem went away, can't say what was causing it.

I set
web.server.host=

to portal-ext.properties and also changed apache settings.

In short:

I was thinking that one could indentify a usefull post or hot topic at a glance at no. of thanks, sort of ranking like in stack overflow or for example maemo.talk.org... just a thought for Santa, would add some info on the popularity of a topic or post..

...this thought has been tossed around in the community a couple of times - I think it would be useful as well (and there are a couple of suggestion/requests in the 'suggestions and new features' forum). Perhaps there could be a 4th ordering button (next to "flat/hierarchical/combination" buttons we have today) that allows you to order it based on message rank (number of +1's / -1's). This assumes we would need to turn on rating again...

Ok, so this is THE discussion place One thing that would be cool to have here would be positive feedback, eg. thanks button if someone posts a useful post (or is there such functionality already?) I only see a red flag. Many posts have been lonely and non-commented that have been of use for me.

Misdirecting links in control_panel

Hi!

Currently the site change dropdown links in contol_panel and some other liferay js components (I guess they are js..) link to urls like: https://group/control_panel?refererPlid.... instead of https://host_address/group/control.... for me. Is there some lfieray setting I'm missing? anyone?

This is apache httpd in front of tomcat-LF-server (6.1.1 CE GA 2), so maybe I need to setup somekind of filtering of urls in httpd-daemon? I'm lost.

Also my 0,5 cents to discussion:

Is there a developer mailing list? Maybe that could be a good way to keep people informed on security issues etc. that need attention? ..and make the development more see through, or at least allow community communicate efficiently on things that matter.

And also it has some barrier of admission so maybe it wouldn't get so bloated with disinformation immediately (as some one already suggested). I find using these forums as information source as contributing to fragmentation of developer life (also my life).

If there are already some streams of important information excisting please point them out. Like rss-feeds are another happiness inducing ways of communicating. Or just plain twitter for announcments. The jira is way too unfiltered right now, or then I'm just stupid, which may be the case too.

..and while I'm getting into ranting, what's with the blogs? Does there need to be gazillion blogs for different people inside liferay, they could also be filttered and arranged somehow?

Good way to change portal fontsize from a link

Hi,

I was wondering if there is an inbuilt way to change the fontsize globally on the portal from a link? I could do this with javascript by changing the used css, but if you know a better way to achieve this, it would be nice to know

So the goal is to get a same kind of behaviour from a link, that for example ctrl+"+" and ctrl+"-" results on firefox.

Hi,

Can I somehow get static velocity variables? I'm trying to get the information of the last selected navigation item to the new render phase, in order to be able to have the right submenu open after a 3rd level item has been clicked.

eg. I have a menubar thing like this:

Level1a
Level2a Level2b Level2c
Level3a Level3b Level3d

the things shown on a level depends on the upper level choice (say it is showing the 3rd level of Level2b link). So when one clicks Level3b, I can't get the right 3rd level menu open once browser loads the layout of the page Level3b. So after the click the menu is like:

Level1a
Level2a Level2b Level2c

but the browser is on a 3rd. level page. So is it now time to perhaps learn javascript or where would be a good place to look on this sort of thing?

Now I store the selected nav_item to a velocity variable:

and then get it's childern to a 2nd level menulist

Somehow liferay remebers the toplevel selected navitem after clicking any of the lower level items, but as I already wrote, it doesn't remember the 2nd level selected navitem after a third level item has been clicked.

oops, you where including html.. but you have various velocity paths set in init.vm, hope that helps. At least in the _unstyled theme there is init.vm under templates.

Hi, I have a stupid question, which would speed up my learning process, if someone can provide me with an ansver.

Can I somehow override classes in the source under potal-impl/src? Or what are the limits of the hook, at least there is the xml tag to override services, so which things go under services? portlets? liferay coreportlets? things under portal-service, but not under portal-impl in src? If the last one, then what's the difference in the portal-impl and portal-service code? Are service classes portlet related java?

Oh, and I have the same problem as in the topic, which is why I'm looking at the hooks to solve this... so the main point was, which is the "right" way to mess with the stuff under portal-impl/src?
