I just ran into an interesting issue in the 6.1.x Trunk. Some LDAP attributes used to be optional in LR. For instance if I leave the mapping for Middle Initial blank Liferay now throws a NullPointerException. In the past leaving this entry blank used to work fine. If I leave any mapping blank I get the NPE now. I wasn't sure if this was a bug or just how things worked now??

Hi Jamie,

I can confirm this problem.

I guess this should be considered a bug. We run LDAP on Mac OS X server and I don't think there's even a field to specify the Middle initial (at least I haven't found it).

Hi,

I have opened a ticket for the issue in Jira (http://issues.liferay.com/browse/LPS-23006)

If you want to vote for it ...

Hi Alex,

I wasn't finding an attribute for Middle Name in OpenDJ either. Come to find out the attribute "initials" is usually used for Middle Name.

Also, thanks for opening the ticket.
