I apologize if this has been answered already, I was unable to find the answer through searching though I did find a similar post for an older version of Liferay.

My question is:
I create web content in Asset publisher and assign it to be viewable by role "A" only. When I log in as role "B" I still see the asset show up in the list. Only when I click on the item to view it do I get the "You do not have permissions" message.

1) Why does it show up at all?
2) Has someone already written a hook or something to correct this behavior?
3) If not, what is the best approach to fix this?

I thank you all in advance for your time.

Hi,

Did you select enable permissions in the configuration of your asset publisher ? (checkboxes at bottom of display settings in the configuration popup) ?

Duh. I am new to this but still... Duh.

Thank you for your reply! I must have looked at that a dozen times and not seen it. Please feel free to chuckle at my expense.

As a follow up question though. I see that my RSS feeds based upon the Asset Publisher do not filter even after applying the setting. I am assuming this is correct behavior but I am wondering what the best approach would be to modify this.

No chuckle Justin... I went through the same path... emoticon

Haven't checked the RSS feeds. I would expect it to also apply the filter if set in the configuration.
I'll let somebody else chip in on that part, but if you don't have a suitable explanation, and if you double checked that the filter is not applied to the RSS feeds, I encourage you to report this as a bug in issues.liferay.com.

Best regards,
Alain
