The fun part you have w/ admin is the underlying changes in the UI. Some things remain the same across versions, but 6.1 changed many things (i.e. one I liked to use was how to delete a user, it was always done the same way in older versions, but changed under 6.1).

The fun part you have with deployment is the many different frameworks available. You probably want to target the framework you're using so you get a better fit. With struts/jsp, jsf (icefaces, primefaces, etc.), vaadin, zk, spring portlet mvc, someone who can answer questions on zk (which maybe you're not using) might not help much getting your Vaadin portlets up and running.

Like I said, it will really depend upon your development framework you're going to use. If you were to quiz me on JSF in Liferay or Vaadin in Liferay, I'd pass with flying colors. But if you were to quiz me on Zk in Liferay, I'd fail miserably.

I guess I'd cover two areas - Liferay development and your framework development. For your framework (struts/jsp, jsf, vaadin, zk, whatever), pick some things from standard interview question sheets (found via a google search).

For Liferay development, you can pick on some things that cross framework boundaries (i.e. the portlet.xml, liferay-portlet.xml, SDK questions, different types of plugins, etc.). A good one for Liferay developers would be to ask the difference between the Hook and EXT plugins, when you would use them and why.

Provided links are for old versions of Liferay. Liferay 6.1 documentation - User guide & Developer guide

Good to refer Liferay FAQ

How about this gem: 50 Liferay Interview Questions (with answers). I can't vouch for their correctness but it might give you something to go on.

Hi,

I would suggest go through this official material of Liferay only.

But if you require it on emergency base you can refer these two links Question Bank One and Questions Bank Two.

Or James has suggested good link in this forum.

HTH.

Thanks,

Hi below are some question i found on google. you can google for more.

What is a Liferay Portal?
What is a Portlet?
>Liferay portal comes with a bundle where all the default built in portlets exist. Typically if any customization required in terms of JSP (UI) and portal properties. We need to go by Hook implementation. Hook is supported by hot deployment. Liferay documentation suggests that - Whenever possible, hooks should be used in place of Ext plugins, as they are hot-deployable and more forward compatible
Some common scenarios that require the use of a hook are
When you have to perform a custom action on portal startup
When you have to perform a custom action on user login
When you need to overwrite or extend portal JSPs
When you need to modify portal properties
When you need to replace a portal service with your own implementation
EXT
What is a Portlet Lifecycle?
What Is Portal-ext.properties File? How This Can Be Configured And Used In Liferay?
1. Why do wee need Hook?
2. How to deploy a Hook?
3. Whats the final artifact for Hook?
4. Is Liferay Hooks are hot deploy able?
QOnce Hook deployed can it be undeployed?
QFor Hook development is any tools necessary?
QCan we use Eclipse to develop Hook?
Q Yes. Your eclipse need Liferay IDE plugin.
QCan we customize anything in Liferay by Hook?
Q No. There are some limitations.
Q.Can we deploy multiples Hook in one portal server?
QWhat can we customize by Liferay Hook?
QFull List: What we can customize by Liferay Hook (based on 6.2)

Liferay Hooks Question :
Question 1: How would I know which JSP I need customize?
Q I am very new to Liferay Portal. Even I don’t know where the user registration jsp available?
Q Do I need to customize always JSP inside JSP Hook?
Q How many hook do I need to create to customize multiple JSPS?
Q I customized a JSP by JSP Hook and its deployed. Now I want to roll back my changes to original.
