Rule Engine Integration.
Video and Audio Gallery / Player Portlets.
Videos conversion to .flv similar to conversion of documents
Document Library portlet with UI Settings instead of using properties file.

Workflow wizard and Rules engine integration are top on my list. Also ability to show or hide portlets based on certain rules will be a great add on to Liferay. Is there any plan to provide Personalization engine driven by rules? In a nut shell, here is the list.

- Workflow wizard portlet
- Ability to see the tasks assigned to a user in a portlet
- Integration with a rules engine like Drools
- Personalization engine integration out of box

Gartner pointed out lack of rules engine in Liferay cons list. If you can add it, it will certainly elevate Liferay to next level.

Go Liferay !!!

The survey portlet would be a great idea, ideally with the following features:
* Collation of results to CSV
* Save/Resume survey at later date (For large surveys)
* Multi page surveys (Even just tabbed would be great)

Why does there need to be a contacts or address book portel? Integrate with a CRM instead of re inventing the wheel...like SUGAR or something?? I have an implementation now with Sugar and Redtail...

Denis, I may be mistaken but I believe there already is a version (internally) to distribute newsletters via the alerts porlet. I looked into this some time ago and you can post alerts to pages or to users emails... essentially a newsletter.

Someone correct me if I am wrong =)

I was thinking of something like Lime Survey but integrated into Liferay.

Hi Ryan:
can you explain this idea? How can we integrate SugarCRM in Liferay? Have you tried something like this?

Hi Ryan I think you are right... Why can't I see it in control panel? I would like to set the content like a web content. So I think that announcements has to be improved, we don't need a new portlet.

I've been trolling all of the Java based CRM's to see if I can find one that's interested in becoming a set of portlets. Frankly, I would think that the projects would be happy about that since it means that a lot of the really mundane stuff disappears - but so far no takers. Sugar is written in PHP so you're going to have language issues. IMHO, it has serious security issues. OK behind a firewall but not something I'd want to integrate wholesale into a web app for general consumption. There are 48 open source CRM projects in Java on Source Forge. Even though they're not the most popular in terms of downloads, OpenCRX is probably the closest in terms of philosophy.

http://sourceforge.net/search/?words=CRM&type_of_search=soft&pmode=0&fq[]=trove%3A198&fq[]=trove%3A11&sort=num_downloads_week&sortdir=desc&limit=25

While you're at it, you might want to look at integrating OpenEMM. I've talked to them. They're open to the idea but strapped for man hours. http://www.openemm.org/

Check an example of Liferay survey portlet at http://portlets.myoffice24x7.com/web/guest/marketplace/public-demo. It does exactly what you have listed.
This one is an enterprise version, open-source version may follow the same approach.

Folder Structure for Web Content
It would be nice to have possibility to create folder structure in order to organize the web contents into hierarchy. Document and Image library have this feature. the use case is as follow. I have a website build on liferay which contains 100's of pages with web content and i do not want to integrate with external CMS just for the folder structure.

It would seem that Lagan may be in the process of re-architecting their CRM to become a composite portlet application. Although not open source, they are a leader in public sector CRM solutions in Europe. This may have changed with Kana Software recent acquirement of Lagan, I don't know.

It would really great if the out-of-box portlets of liferay (like document liberary, calendar and others) be available as plugin portlet rather than being attached to the core of liferay.
