Hello,

I created a Role Editor and assigned the following permissions to it:

My Workflow Tasks Access in Control Panel Portal
My Workflow Tasks Configuration Portal
My Workflow Tasks Permissions Portal
My Workflow Tasks View Portal
Web Content Access in Control Panel Portal
Web Content Configuration Portal
Web Content Permissions Portal
Web Content View Portal
Web Content Web Content Delete Portal
Web Content Web Content Delete Discussion Portal
Web Content Web Content Update Portal
Web Content Web Content Update Discussion Portal
Web Content Web Content View Portal
Web Content Web Content Feed Delete Portal
Web Content Web Content Feed Update Portal
Web Content Web Content Feed View Portal
Web Content Web Content Management Add Content Portal
Web Content Web Content Structure View Portal
Web Content Web Content Template View Portal
Web Content Display View Portal

Please note the last 3 permissions. the role cannot update or delete a structure and a template.

However, When I login as editor and see my web content portlet in the control panel, I have the Edit structure, edit template buttons. I can also go and delete any structure element. But when I save the changes, I get a wrong error message

instead of

You donot have required the permissions

.

1) Why am I having the edit and delete buttons on the first place when I have no rights to edit?
2) Why Am I getting a wrong error message

I have a similar issue on the permissions for structures / templates. I posted a bug report on Jira : LPS-26109, refering to this forum post.

Thanks Alain for letting me know the update on this. Seems the bug has been resolved [ based on the JIRA status of the defect LPS-26109 that you created ]. Now how do I update the code with the resolved version ? Can you please let me know the steps for the update?

I see two options:

wait for the next liferay update,
create a hook on the web content to include the changes that solved the bug.

Some information on the second option :

The Jira case has a link to a Git pull request: https://github.com/hhuijser/liferay-portal/pull/514 Going to that page, clicking on the "Diff" link shows the change to the code that were made to correct the bug, that can be incorporated in a hook.
When you upgrade liferay, you need to remember NOT to deploy your hook that corrected the issue.

Thanks for the response Alain. I'm facing few issues with the current code modifications. I have commented about the same in the ticket you created.

FYI, from the issue, it seems it's already fixed in the current svn trunk.
