Should we allow guests to add comments by default?

Hey guys,

One very common complain in our forums is that the blogs portlet cannot be configured to allow for comments from guest users. In the a thread some community members have found and shared a solution that requires modifying blogs.xml, discussion/page.jsp and the MBMessageServiceImpl class.

It seems pretty simple to add that by default. Do you guys see any drawback of applying it?

Most systems I've seen require that you at least provide your name / email address if you're anonymous. We might want to at least do that. But I think as long as have some sort of spam control like a captcha there's no reason not to do this.
