Email notifacation for flag reporting

Hi friends,
In my project I need to set an email notification to the blog owner when I report the flag option in his blog.
Please help me with some solutions

Set an email notification is already implemented in liferay,all you have to do is to configure mail setting in control panel go to server administrator and in header click the mail option

Yes, I did smtp configurations but it shows some error like this

11:08:08,609 ERROR [MailEngine:489] Exception reading response
11:08:08,610 ERROR [MailEngine:154] javax.net.ssl.SSLException: Unrecognized SSL message, plaintext connection?

Yes,
Now I unchecked Secure Network Connection, now there is no Error but there is no response when I report(submit) the flag.
there is no email notification.

Which version of Liferay are you using ?
I've checked in Liferay 6.1.1 GA2 and looks like its working fine in that.
To make sure smtp setting is proper, verify whether any other functionality which does send email notification is working ? i.e. new user creation ?
