Category tree corrupt in liferay 6.1.2

I recently experienced a bug with editing categories for a site. I was adding a new category to one of many vocabularies in the global scope, the category was a child element of a parent category. After doing this somehow the rendering of the categories in the control panel stopped working as it should, i now see an endless loop of the same list of categories being children to them self.

To illustrate

Voc->Category1
Category2_with_child_categories->Category 1 (here there should be other categories ie Category4,5,6 etc, but instead it shows the parent categories)
Ctegory3 Category2_with_child_categories (this loops like this.. dont know how many iterations)
..... Category3

When editing other resources, like files or article, the categories are not corrupt, only when editing categories in the control panel (Control Panel->Categories)

I need this to work, anybody have any ideas how to fix that?
