How to customize the Dockbar?

Hi

here my requirement like i have to customize the liferay "doc bar". i need to add 5 buttons at the left hand side ....is anybody know how to achieve this.

The dockbar is a portlet, just with fancy CSS to make it appear differently. You can modify it just like any other core portlet with a JSP hook, overriding its UI.
