6.2 theme settings cannot be saved in pages when the theme is the default

We are developing a theme with some settings (booleans and numbers to slightly change the behaviour) for a site deployed in a 6.2 CE GA2 instance.
If we set the theme as the default for public pages we cannot change them when we define a specific look and feel for a page: parameters can be edited but they are reverted after saving. No errors on the page nor in the log.
Anybody knows if this a known bug/behaviour?
We found a workaround temporary setting the default theme to classic, configuing the pages as desired and putting the default back to our theme.
