Display personalization

Hello everyone,

We currently work on a solution being able to largely improve the comfort of navigation to people suffering from disability.
Here some functionalities already implemented in our solution:
- increase/decrease text size
- choose text color
- choose background color
- linearization of layout templates
- filtering portlets by id
- filtering articles by template
- filtering images, flash animation and applet (it needs specific preparation of article's template)
- choose navigation menu position

In order not to bring constraints to use this application, we use cookies to perform user's preferences persistence.

This application is in pre-production for one of our customers, you can test it at this address:

(the site is in French).

Wow, this is pretty cool. We'd love to receive such a contribution.

One thing that I would welcome is a way to reset the configuration. Have you thought of adding that?

Of course Jorge,

There is a link in the accessible theme named "Affichage classique" (translation of classic display) who offer this possibility.

No link is provided in the classic display to return to the personalized configuration.

If you want to return to a personalized mode you have to go back to the display personalization portlet and perform a save action (all the preferences which you previously saved will be available)...

It's a beta version for the moment, we are waiting for your comments and suggestions to make the solution better.

When are you planning to have a version that could be contributed? I want to make sure we plan it ahead of time so that it can be integrated as soon as possible.

Hi Jorge,

This demo version is very specific to our project at this time:
- it uses alternative code in journal template to hide images, flash and java applets (the best way to do this must be the usage of a filter).
- it uses also alternative layouts templates to perform linearization of tables (another filtering methods can do this for us).

Maybe we can contribute in a first step with a basic version (ie personalized display of text and colors). In these conditions we can share our work with you at the beginning of March.

We will contribute in the futur with additional features according to our advance.

One form of personalization that I am struggling to figure out how to make generic is in showing the distinction of how a user authenticated to Liferay. For example, if a user logged in by typing a username/password vs being automatically signed on via Siteminder vs Federated Identity. In these scenarios, one may also desire to display a global logout button as well.
