Liferay 5.2.3 + OpenLDAP 2.4.18 passwords plain text

Hi
I have moved an liferay site from a Fedora 389 Directory Server to an Ubuntu machine with OpenLDAP 2.4.18.
Previously, I was using Liferay to change the user's passwords, and it was stored on the directory as SSHA crypted. Now, with the new setup, it's always stored in plaintext, and I cannot make it use either SSHA nor SHA.
What are the relevant parameters that indicate Liferay to use a specific crypto hash to send the password to the LDAP?
Thanks!
