Liferay Code Camp 2011 Rules
- The competition commences on 20 Oct 2011 and the final commit date should be 10 Apr 2012.
- The award ceremony will be at the Liferay Symposium on 17 May 2012 in Budapest.
- Teams can be from any university or college within Europe.
- All team members should hold student status at time of event completion.
- An individual student can also enter the event as a contender or a team could register with 2 students (OR) Team strengths can vary from 1 or 2 students.
- Criteria for a successful project is:
- Pre-define your project goal at the initial mentor meet on 24 Oct to check feasibility of the project and be assigned to a mentor.
- Show continuous progress during the competition.
- Communicate with your mentor on a bi-weekly basis about the progress.
- The project has to be completed
- by the team members only, however reasearch through external sources (message boards, google, etc.) is permitted.
- by 10 Apr 2012.
- by achieving the pre-defined goal.
- To win a trip to LA
- Be creative.
- Be dedicated.
- Write a useful and easily usable program.
- Communicate what you are doing with the world.
- Tasks can be selected from the Activities page, but other ideas are always welcome.
- All teams will need to submit a one-page document on the overview of the project chosen.
- Assigned mentors will provide feedback on the project description and judge if it is suitable or would need more information to compete for the ultimate prize.
- There will be regular web meets between the mentors and their team. These will be broadcasted and recorded by WebEx; these sessions will help guide the projects in the right path.
- Mentors will choose a repository to store all development codes for the projects undertaken.
- All codes submitted by the teams will be owned by Liferay and if they are compliant with company standards, they will be included in any one of Liferay's future products.
- English will be the basic language of the competition. However, upon request mentors will consult in Hungarian (all documentation should be in English as the judges are non-Hungarian developers).
- The teams have to work with the technologies Liferay provides (e.g. Java, YUI, etc.)
