cannot see new installed portlet

Hi to all,

I have installed a new portlet (it was the sun bookmark portlet) using a war-file. I used two different methods: copying it in the deploy-folder and uploading it with the Admin tool.

In both cases the installation completed without errors but I cannot see the portlet in the application list. Also the plugin-tab in the Enterprise Admin tool is empty and I am not able to manage any portlet anymore.

Does anyone have an idea? I guess that I have to repair some configuration files...

HI,

Just Now I installed a JSP portlet getting data from the Mysql data base.
What I did was just make a war file and Next upload the file the war file
using the Upload option in the Pluggins page. Next it is displayed in the
Add application tab.

Yes, your way is exactly the way I did it...

In what section of the "Add application" tab should the new portlet be displayed (I browsed through all sections but could not find my new portlet).

Right now I think that my portlet somehow is buggy...

Hi,

can you check your logs? There must be an entry for each portlet saying "Portlet XY deployed successfully".

Or attach your logfile (startup) here.

Which logfile(s) do you mean (names and locations)?

Hi,

it depends on your application server.
For tomcat please post the catalina.out (in logs directory) and/or the information on the command line.

ok, I reinstalled the portlet and traced the catalina.out (see attached file).

Hi,

you said that there were no exceptions?? there are some of them.

I also had this problem once. The problem is, that the bookmark portlet references a schema which it cannot download (neither from your local server, nor from Liferay servers).
It is most likely that you are using the wrong plugin version with the wrong Liferay version.

Can you post your versions?

And maybe check that in liferay-portlet.xml you have the correct version, too.
