Add new Webcontent option in the web content portlet removes old content

I'm using Liferay 6.0 EE SP2. The issue that I'm facing is, if there is a content placed in the web content display portlet, that content is removed from the page, if I use the Add a new Web content icon in the web content display portlet.

Eg: My Page A contains a web content display portlet displaying a content with article Id 100. If I use the Add new web content icon in the portlet(and if I hit cancel or even submit the new content for publication), it removes the content with article id 100 from the page. I believe this shouldnt be the right behaviour as the new content shouldnt replace the content which is currentlly published on the page unless a new web content is explictly selected on the page.

Has anyone faced the same problem and/or know a workaround for it.
