using liferay as SAML SP and sync

We are setting up liferay to be SP which will go to enterprise IdP to implement SSO. How will that impact the sync implementation? Any recommendation? we are on EE 6.1 GA 2. We are connected to AD at present but moving to SAML will allow one time login with IdP and use of multiple systems.

If you keep your SP connected to AD it shouldn't affect sync but if severe that connection and use SAML only then you won't be able to login from sync because SAML does not transport the user password. With SAML you can still use LDAP sync to keep the user info up to date.
