Please find another thread in the forum that talks about how to build SO.

For the Portal base, however, source code is not available.

When we start work on SO 2.0 you'll be able to get all the source from SVN

what do you mean with "Portal base" ?

so SO 1.5 is not a, let me say, "real" opensource tool?

It is, but we'll be releasing the full open source version based on Liferay Portal 5.3 starting with Social Office 2.0. For version 1.5 we're going to go straight to an EE to support some customers but instead of investing the effort required to release a separate community edition we will put that effort toward 2.0.

Yes it makes sense and that way founds me 100% in agreement.

I think SO is a great tool and perfect for our scope (a community project for intranet of a public amministration).

We'll wait for full open source version "anxiously" :-) :-)
until then we use SO as well as.
