OpenXava is a framework for Rapid Development of Liferay applications, well-suited for business and database oriented applications. OpenXava allows you develop applications just by writing simple domain classes with Java or Groovy. The user interface is generated automatically in runtime, without code generation.

This 5.2 release has a new way to customize the list and collections, very responsive and more intuitive. We have improved the automated test performance, upgraded some important libraries and many more things.

Read the complete announcement in OpenXava site.

Hi Javier,

Thanks for the good works. OX has always been a fantastic framework that works perfectly with Liferay.
However, previous versions of OX does not display portlets that blend with Liferay 6.2 theme.
Please confirm if OX 5.2 integrates or displays portlets with UI for Liferay 6.2 theme.

Regards,
Toch.

Hi Toch,

Unfortunately OpenXava 5.2 has not visual integration with Liferay 6.2. We support Liferay 5.1, 5.1, 6.0 and 6.1 and WebSphere 8 styles. The OpenXava team has no plans to work in Liferay 6.2 style integration in the near future. Fortunately, a Spanish company is currently working in Liferay 6.2 integration for OpenXava and they plan to donate the code to OpenXava, and of course we'll accept it. However, given this work is not developed by the core OpenXava team I cannot give you an availability date, and we, the OpenXava team, will not support that code fixing bugs or answering in the forum, though the original contributors can do it if they wish.

We're working hard in XavaPro where the current customers are asking for more things, so we have no spare time for Liferay support. And investing the money from XavaPro in Liferay support has no sense for us.

Hi Javier, I like a lot OX, is amazing!.

Are there some news about OX 5 integration in Liferay 6.2?
Maybe OX Pro?

I think that would be fantastic to have both working together, as always.

Thanks and congratulations for your work.

Regards.

Hi Ignacio and Toch,

By now we have no plans to add Liferay 6.2 support to OpenXava. Currenlty we support only Liferay 6.1.

Cheers

Hi Javier,

Hope you are good.
Please confirm if the GUI for OX 5.2 with Liferay 6.2 is ready from the third party company??

I know OX is very good and is Open Source but please note that
OX developers really need this from OX or anybody who can do it because most existing projects with OX was done with previous versions of Liferay and we have not been able to migrate our works to Liferay 6.2 and this has become a big problem for commercial applications built with OX.

We are stuck with the older liferay versions that are compatible with OX 5.2.
