"chat bar" gets in the way

Many times using the liferay.com site, I've been frustrated because the chatbar (the ever-present grey bar at the bottom of the site) hides my search results. I'd like to hear if 1) anyone depends on this feature and 2) if I can disable it .

as i understand correctly, you want to disable chat ?
Option 1) remove chat war from deployment

Thanks for your feedback. Right now it's not possible to hide it on a user by user basis, but I'll send your comments to the site administrators so that they can work on a solution.

Personally, I haven't used chat but I do like seeing who's online just to know that there's somebody else there.
