Task portlet

As discussed on the message board before the when the calendar portlet is made public it does not contain the task option. This does not allow for community task. The Project/Firm portlet does allow for public task. However, in order to view the tasks a user must be added as an admin to that portlet. Has anyone come up with a better option or solution to either of these portlets to get a task function or know where a task portlet is available?
