About tags property

It is an advanced feature that can be useful to add metadata to the tag. The metadata won't be used by Liferay, but some people develop portlets to leverage it.

In any case I think it makes more sense for categories than for tags. Tags have it because at a time Liferay didn't differentiate between tags and categories.

Also, if you use the asset publisher portlet, tag cloud, or navigation portlets this is where tagging can work well. You can create dynamic menus based off of tags. If you're using 6.1 the asset publisher is much improved and you can take advantage of the functionality out of the box. Pretty cool stuff..

Yes, tags are indexed and can be used in search to filter and shows up in search results. I've added a different field for metatags which doesn't get indexed and stay hidden from pages but can be used in programs.

I'm having trouble understanding the key-value pair for taxonomies' properties. Would u be kind to give me an example or two?
[trying to implement ontologies using taxonomies and categories so i think properties could be a real treasure]

Nice information given for tag properties.
we can use them as meta information or some data associate to those tags.
like we can use tags as type or tag image or tag description etc using this property by code.
