New Feature Proposals

One of the great things about Open Source is to become an active user that participates in the evolution of the project. So, if you have an idea, by all means share it. Here is the process we recommend to make sure you are heard:

  1. See if your idea has already been proposed by searching for a Feature Request in JIRA. If you find it you can vote for it and add your comments to it. Otherwise keep going.
  2. If you do not find your idea, and wish to discuss it further before logging an official idea, visit the Suggestions and Feature Requests forum and start a new thread with your initial idea.
  3. Once you are satisfied with your proposal, and it meets the criteria for a concrete idea, suggest your new idea by visiting the Community Ideas Dashboard, and clicking the "+" button next to the area in which you wish to propose a new feature.
  4. After proposing your idea, be sure to generate as many votes and buzz about your idea by socializing it via your favorite social networks and the Community Forums! This is the best way to get someone to implement your proposal!

I gathered up all the other pages that the user community created and moved them here. I just want everyone to be clear. Almost none of this are my ideas. I just combed through the forums and gathered up all the posts I could find. Then I combed through JIRA as best I was able to find more stuff. Using that, I tried to consolidate it into some logical categories. Hopefully, this will help the Liferay guys as they start looking at new features to introduce.

I also want to encourage all of you to point out what you find useful - and what you do not find useful.

Leave comments... and use the thumbs to vote comments up and down. More votes makes it more likely the features you want will end up in the next rev.... so.... VOTE....

FYI for anyone else looking for a specific feature, hit the search. It should pop up pretty readily since it is only searching this node of the wiki.

Would it be possible for a user/member to edit their own comments but restrict them from deleting comments made by other users? Perfect example this page.
