RSS portlet is not working for Global Feeds

Hi All,

I wants RSS Feeds from sports,News, Weather etc in my project. so that I am using liferay RSS Portlet.
Then it is giving me Error as..
http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/tech cannot be found ,
http://in.weather.com/rss-Mumbai-INXX0087 cannot be found.

According to liferay Forums I have added following properties in system-ext.properties file as..

http.proxyHost=172.21.150.184(My proxy server IP)
http.proxyPort=3128(My proxy server Port
#https.proxyHost=172.21.150.184
#https.proxyPort=3128
http.nonProxyHosts=localhost
#http.proxyUser=
#http.proxyPassword=

I have alternativaly check all above option by interchanging each other
please note that above Urls are accessible directly from Browser but not working in RSS portlet

Any Help will be highly appreciated.

These urls need to be accessible to the server because the server is the one who makes the http request. Can you check if the Liferay server can access those URLs?

URL's are accesiable from browser directly.but the same time when i am adding this URL's in RSS Portlet then it is giving as "Url could not found".

Could you please tell me how to check URL's are Accessible to liferay server or Not?.

If you are on linux and have wget, you can use that.

I am using Windows server 2008.so can you tell me how to check on windows server 2008 and HOw to make global Url's Accessiable to liferay server.

If you are using Windows, you can just use IE and enter the url of the external rss site to see if you can connect to it. I remember changing liferay's source code because it was not looking at the windows proxy setting parameters. There were some other problem with encoding so I'm using my modified versions so I haven't tested liferay default rss portlet in the latest version.

Ya.. I am able to access following rss urls from IE directely.But not able to access it in RSS portlet.

1.http://in.weather.com/rss-Mumbai-INXX0087
2.http://news.yahoo.com/rss/tech

I am using "liferay-portal-6.1.0-ce-ga1" C.E with Windows as OS and Oracle10g as Database.

Note that I have added following code in system-ext.properties file.

http.proxyHost=172.21.150.184(proxy server IP Address)

#https.proxyPort=3128
http.nonProxyHosts=crisilconnect
#http.proxyUser=

Is above modification is needed in system-ext.properties OR Not?

You're not getting any responses because you've revived a 3 year old thread.

Post a new thread with your issues, what you've done, what you expect to see but aren't, what you do see, what is in logs, etc.
