Not sure if I understood your question clearly, but in most simple way, you can add it by creating a web content. Depends on what you are trying to achieve. So do specify.

Image means jpeg or gif in home page. But which images you want to show in home page and for which version of liferay.
Whether for Document and Media or the User's Images ?
