Why do we need extension environment

Hi ,

I am new to liferay. can any one explain me why do we need building extension environment in liferay as we can use that liferay src, itself to create new portlets

Hi Suresh,

Working with the ext environment will help you to move your changes to future liferay versions.
This is possible, because your code is kept separated from the liferay core.

Otherwise, you would have to extract your changes from the old liferay version and to add them to the new version for each new liferay version.
