How can I customise an existing portlet of liferay

Hi ,

Can anyone help in how can i customise an existing portlet in liferay, such as if i want to add a new component such as textbox where im going to enter some data in my account portlet and i want to save that value into database.


I will explain what i was trying

Since im working on extension environment, i wont have myaccount portlet related folder inside my docroot/html/portlet,

Then how can i customise existing portlet in extension environment.


Can anyone help me in this regard
