ERROR "Could not connect to the Liferay Marketplace"

login > control panel > marketplace > store or purchased results in "Could not connect to the Liferay Marketplace"

how do I fix this so I can install plugins?

looks like the marketplace was down for awhile. back up now. finally.

My servers are behind a firewall without internet access so I usually just disable Marketplace so I don't get any error messages. Just install Private Plugin to install plugins.

Operations teams doesn't like seeing error messages.
