I like the idea of the liferay app store. I want to be able to leverage this to be able to do my own app store or content portal that can delivery music, games, etc to mobile devices. Is there something like this out there?

We don't currently have plans to productize the Liferay Marketplace. It is also specifically designed to deliver apps to Liferay, not to mobile devices, so I don't think it would be useable for your use case without a major undertaking
