Message board Display specific category.

Hello All,
I am having a web content display with a select box containing a specific list of users. when I select the user, I wish to display a category with the same name in the messageboard. In the template of the web content display, I was able to retrieve the category of the message board which I wanted to display but I am not able to set or open up the category in the messageboard.

Any help is appreciated.
