Customize icon for bookmark on home screen on Android Device

Is there a way to customize a favorite or bookmark icon for Android?

I know for Apple it's

<link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="favIcon.jpg">

or a regular website it's

<link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="favIcon.jpg">

By default when we bookmark any website on home screen, it shows icon:

I have tried using below three ways, but I am not getting the customize icon on home screen of Android, it shows me the same RED RIBBON icon as above.

Note:
- My website has the SSL security, does it causing any problem?

I'm experiencing the same problem with ashish. as we both know favicon is a very simple but effective way to build your brand.

so i really like to see solution on this problem...i will follow up this post, just in case someone give an exact solution.
