LOS ANGELES – (July 17, 2012) – Liferay, Inc., provider of the world's leading enterprise-class, open source portal, announced today the lineup of open source leaders serving as keynote speakers at the upcoming Liferay North America Symposium, October 8-9, 2012. This year's keynotes include Liferay founders and top executives Brian Chan and Bryan Cheung; Anil Gaur, Vice President of Server Technologies at Oracle; Bryan Cantrill, Vice President of Engineering at Joyent; and Jono Bacon, Ubuntu Community Manager at Canonical.

The event offers business professionals and developers hands-on workshops, expert technical and business sessions and networking events with like-minded proponents of open source and Liferay technologies.

"We fully expect this year's Liferay North America Symposium to draw our biggest, most diverse crowd of open source professionals yet," said Bryan Cheung, Liferay's CEO and co-founder. Anil Gaur, VP of Server Technologies at Oracle, has been a leader in the GlassFish community since its inception. Previously, Gaur took the reins managing the delivery of Java EE 6 Platform and SDK, which saw quick adoption for enterprise application development and deployments. Bryan Cantrill, currently VP of Engineering at cloud computing software company Joyent, oversees the development of Joyent's high performance JoyentCloud offerings, using next-generation technologies such as node.js and SmartOS.  Prior to joining Joyent, Cantrill served as a Distinguished Engineer at Sun Microsystems, where he co-founded the Fishworks group and led a team that designed and implemented DTrace. Jono Bacon is the Ubuntu Community Manager at Canonical and is an expert in inspiring and leading global communities around open source products. Bacon founded the Community Leadership Summit and wrote The Art of Community.

Following the Liferay symposium, a one-day training will equip developers with the advanced skills and knowledge to quickly build enterprise solutions using Liferay Portal. Liferay Reports Another Year of Double-Digit Growth
Enterprise portal leader grows revenue by more than 50 percent in 2012

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — (February 27, 2013) — Liferay, Inc., provider of the world's leading enterprise-class open source portal, announced an impressive year of growth that included a greater than 50 percent increase in revenue as well as continued expansion in its community and business ecosystems. The company attributes its 2012 success to significant gains made through opportunities in the financial services, health care and government sectors around the world.

The open source leader, whose revenue is mainly derived from sales of Liferay Portal Enterprise Edition (EE), its flagship product, saw healthy growth of existing client contracts and key wins in new projects. Last year's most popular use cases of Liferay Portal were as collaborative intranets and customer portals, notably in the health care and financial services industries.

"I'm very pleased to announce another successful year, delivering Liferay's solutions to clients around the world in sectors adopting open source at a high rate," said Bryan Cheung, Liferay's CEO. "Last year's growth is a testament to the Liferay platform's ability to address today's wide-ranging enterprise needs such as increasing customer engagement online and managing complex business content and processes. Liferay's persistent global growth in all areas, including customers, partners, and community members, doesn't show any signs of slowing down in 2013."

New offices that opened in the last year in London, Paris, Saõ Paulo, Tokyo, and the U.S. Midwest have been responding quickly to local demand for Liferay's products and services and have established strategic go-to-market partnerships. For example, Liferay U.K. delivered on a constituent self-service portal for the London Borough of Camden, the French office signed new partner Atos Origin, and the Asia-Pacific team closed major deals in the consumer electronics and telecommunications industries.

Liferay's open source community also experienced significant growth in size and activity. Liferay's 56,000 community members in 2011 grew to over 75,000 by the end of last year, and to date the community has already surpassed 80,000 members. The rapid rise in the formation of Liferay's user groups around the world—last year alone saw 20 user groups form—also points to the strength and vibrancy of Liferay's ecosystem.
