Hi fellows,

We're currently considering performing an upgrade from 6.0.6 CE to 6.1,
as 6.1 GA was only released 3 months ago, I'm not too confident about its stability.
our system is quite massive (300 concurrent users), and we cant allow ourselves any downtime on behalf of stability issues.
I would be very thankful to hear about your experience regarding the upgrade, especially regarding the version stability.

There are issues with image library upgrade. It appears that there would be 6.1.1 GA for resolving upgrade issues

Well, let's call a spade a spade here...

The upgrade issues are mostly related to missing images and/or documents from the document library. There's no proof that the missing objects were due to a Liferay bug, but I bet that there's a lot of user error behind them (either users manually deleted items from the data directory, or they incorrectly used one of the APIs, etc.).

The changes being made for the 6.1.1 are to not treat them as general upgrade failures, allowing the upgrade to continue even when a missing image and/or document is found.

IMHO, all it's doing is allowing a problem from an earlier release to propagate into the new release... This may not necessarily be a problem (if you've deleted an image file that is not referenced in any active content, it's not really a problem I guess).

But it should not be cast as some sort of stability issue for the 6.1 line...

Liferay 6.1.0 GA1 JBoss bundle has some bugs which requires some manual steps.
The new setup wizard is unable. It sometimes doesn't work.
The default 7cogs demo doesn't reindex after inserting demo users and organization so they won't appear until you manually index.
There's a link to Liferay Sync in Document and Media library. Being the initial release, Liferay Sync is very buggy.

These are some things that were fixed in the coming next release (Now set back to May 11th). I think there's a list of fixed bugs and features added for the coming release.
I didn't want to waste my customers' time and my time with this release so decided to use 6.0.6 until the next release comes out. That's just my personal opinion.
